Full time role
Brisbane, Queensland
Applications close: 25 January, 2012.

Green Cross Australia (GCA) helps people to adapt to our changing world, in ways that embrace sustainability and community resilience. We believe we must help each other to help our planet and foster a values shift towards a peaceful, sustainable and secure future.

Our programs support communities to become more sustainable and resilient as we prepare for and respond to environmental change including severe weather events. We convene business, government, research and community partnerships to catalyse large projects that advance our mission.

We are a highly awarded, not-for-profit, digital organisation and have won six major awards for content, design and social media interface. Our work with respected and credible partners ensures that our content is rich and powerful.

Position specification

The Digital Content Officer will report to the Digital Communications Manager and will work closely with our external web development agency, CEO, Head of Programs, other staff members, partners and volunteers as required.

The primary focus of this role is to maintain GCA’s many websites, develop and maintain databases, data design, and create and verify content for websites and social media channels to ensure the success of GCA and its projects.

This position is suitable for a creative industries professional with strong attention to detail, great communication skills, an eye for design and experience in maintaining and developing online programs.

We work closely with respected and trusted partners (including CSIRO, several universities, federal, state and local government and the Bureau of Meteorology) and with their expertise, research and knowledge we create cutting edge data driven websites and online tools that targets specific audiences (primary school students, GenY, disaster affected communities and mainstream).

We pride ourselves on creating content and design rich online journeys for our audiences which inspire a shift in values towards a sustainable and secure future, and which catalyse practical action that we can capture and share virally. We are looking for someone who balances new ideas with delivery on routine operational needs, has strong attention to detail, enjoys working in methodical but flexible way and who wants to work with GCA and to build resilient communities through inspiring online engagement that delivers real world impacts.
